Teej

We have many relatives festivals. Teej is an interesting festival of the Hindus. It falls  in the month  of  Bhadra. It is known as the festival of Hindu, specially Hindu women.

Mainly  the married women of  Hindu societies observe this festival. However, unmarried girls also take it as their  festival. The previous day,  they eat sweets and delicious food many times. They  say  it 'Dar'. The  women  take  fasting  all day even without a drop water and pray Shiva on the Teej day singing and dancing in front of the temple Shivalays. They  try  to  please the  God Shiva. They  perform Pooja and pray for  the long and happy  life of their  husbands. Even  unmarried girls take fasting and pray Shiva for a good husband.

The  married women  go to their  maitis  in their  red saris and dazzling ornaments.  They sing songs and  dance all day .  They  express their  sorrows and happiness of their  married life. They  meet their  friends  of their childhood and their maternal relatives during this festival.

If any woman cannot  get chance to go  to the  maiti, She is very  unhappy .Teej is a popular  festival for  the Hindu women. We should  keep on enjoying it  making  it more interesting.
